At your first visit to either of our Surrey or Langley orthodontic offices, you will attend an orthodontic consultation with your orthodontist, during which we will examine your smile, determine the nature of your misalignment issues, and consider the treatment options that would suit you best.
During your first consultation with us, we’ll get to know you, and learn about the condition of your teeth.
We ask that you come a few minutes early to your first appointment so that you can fill out the necessary medical and dental history forms.
About the Forms
The medical and dental history forms you fill out at the outset of your orthodontic treatment process are very important.
They tell us everything we need to know about the state of your oral and overall health, to ensure you receive the best and most appropriate orthodontic treatment for your unique needs.
The Examination & Consultation
After you’ve filled out the forms, you will be escorted into an examination room. There, your orthodontist will sit down with you to discuss your needs, and what you’re looking to achieve with orthodontic treatment.
He will then conduct a thorough examination of your mouth, jaws, and head. This will include x-rays so that he can really see all the aspects of your oral health from every angle!
Once the examination is complete, your orthodontist will make treatment recommendations based on the information gleaned from the exam and consultation, in combination with that in your medical and dental history forms.
He will answer all of your questions, and provide you with the advice and facts you need to make an informed choice about your orthodontic treatment.
If you’re ready to initiate treatment at this point, the orthodontist will take steps to prepare for it. Otherwise, you can go home and consider your options, and initiate treatment when you’re ready to do so.
You can make your next appointment at the front desk before you leave, and call us any time if you have more questions.
