Makeup for Braces: Play them up or down?

Makeup for Braces: Play them up or down?

Depending on your preferences and your personality, you may want to highlight your braces, or you might prefer to hide them a bit. Here are some makeup tips to help you do either!

To Make Them Look Good

To really highlight your braces, go for a red lipstick! To achieve the best results, choose a darker shade, one that compliments your skin tone. Selecting a matte lipstick can also be helpful, since glossy formulas are more likely to smudge and get onto your braces.

Be sure to choose a shade of lipstick that makes your teeth look whiter. Braces can look quite busy, so this little tip can help your smile look more clear and bright.

You may also want to keep your favourite lip balm handy. Having braces can make your lips very dry, and lip balm will help keep them looking supple and soft.

To Draw Attention Away

Draw attention away from your braces by choosing a neutral lip colour, and by applying more dramatic eye makeup. Experiment with eyeshadow colours that complement the colour of your eyes, or try a dramatic smoky eye.

You can also draw attention away from your braces by going for a well-shaped, eyebrow look. With the current trend for thicker, fuller brows, this is easier than ever. There are lots of great eyebrow tutorials available on Youtube to help you to perfect your look.
