How to Eat with Invisalign®

One of the most popular features of clear aligners is that they can be taken out to eat, which means there aren't any dietary restrictions with this treatment. Here, we share some of the factors you need to know about eating with Invisalign clear aligners.

Eating with Invisalign clear aligners is easy! Since you can remove your aligners, you won't have any dietary restrictions. You just need to remove them to eat and drink anything you'd like, as long as you wear them for the required amount of time every day.

Eating During Your Invisalign Treatment

Unlike traditional metal braces that have a list of food restrictions (because food can get stuck in brackets and wires), Invisalign can be removed so you are able to keep eating and drinking all of your favourite foods.

Just don't forget to take your aligners out before consuming anything that isn't cold water. Drinking sugary, dark drinks while wearing your aligners could result in plaque buildup. Hot beverages like coffee and tea can stain or warp your aligners.

Brush Your Teeth & Rinse After Eating

Before putting your aligners back on after eating or drinking, you have to clean them and brush your teeth. Food can get stuck between your teeth and clear aligners, which could result in damage or/and tooth decay.

If you are unable to brush after eating or drinking, you should at least rinse your mouth and the aligners with water before putting them back in.

Placing Your Aligners In Your Mouth

Usually, Invisalign clear aligners need to be worn for a minimum of 20 hours a day, so keep track of the total time you have them removed every day. The idea is to keep them in as long as possible to get the best treatment results possible.
