Say 'Cheese' - Look Great in Pictures while Wearing Braces

With or without braces, we all want to look great in pictures. Here are a few tips for looking your very best in pictures while you have braces.

Good Oral Hygiene

Clean teeth are absolutely essential to a great smile! No matter which type of braces you have, thoroughly brush and floss before you have your picture taken so that your smile will be clean and bright.

Orthodontic appliances attract and trap food and plaque, which can stain or damage teeth if not brushed away. So, keep your teeth clean and healthy by brushing after every meal and flossing daily.

Cleaning your braces or other dental appliances will help to make your smile look great.  Be sure to use an interdental brush to clean your braces, as well as between your teeth and the archwires of your braces.

Maintaining a strong oral hygiene routine will mean your smile is camera-ready even for those surprise shots.

Just Smile!

Your teeth and braces have been brushed and flossed, you have nothing to hide. Let that smile shine! A happy, confident smile always looks fabulous.

If you feel like you could use a little time to adjust to smiling with braces on, practice smiling at yourself in the mirror. Just look in the mirror and flash yourself a genuine smile.

Don’t hold back your smile in pictures. Remind yourself that you look great with your braces on!

Go With Colour

Think of your braces as an accessory. Use them to express your unique style.

When it comes to braces elastics you've got a rainbow of colours to choose from. You could try picking a colour that brings out your eyes, highlights your skin tone, or really stands out.

If you want your teeth to appear whiter, try darker coloured elastics, and avoid white elastics since they can make your teeth look discoloured.

Avoid browns or earthy greens since these colours can make it look as if you have food stuck in your braces.

Too many colours to choose from? You could alway opt for a rainbow smile.

Make-Up Options for Braces

Proud of your braces? Put on some red lipstick and smile. Darker shades will compliment your skin tone and makes your teeth look whiter.

Feeling a little self-conscious with your braces? Choose a neutral lip colour and try applying more dramatic eye makeup to draw attention away from your braces.

Choose Less Noticeable Braces

If you cringe at the very idea of having your picture taken while wearing braces there are some low profile orthodontic treatment options you may want to consider:

Invisalign

Invisalign clear aligners may be the perfect solution if you feel self-conscious even thinking about smiling while wearing braces.

Invisalign is a discrete and convenient orthodontic treatment option. Invisalign's clear aligners are removable and almost completely invisible when worn. You never have to think twice about smiling for the camera.

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are attached to the backs of your teeth where hardly anyone will notice them. Lingual braces will allow you to smile freely without feeling self-conscious.

In-Ovation

Smaller than traditional metal braces, In-Ovation Self-Ligating braces have no ties or elastics to trap food.

Ceramic Braces

‘Translucent’ ceramic braces have brackets that are made of a tooth-coloured ceramic material. Translucent ceramic braces blend in with your teeth, making your braces less noticeable in pictures.
